Many of us complain about chronic neck and shoulder pain, but aren’t willing to do the daily work to make the postural adjustments to correct the problem.
So today I want to share some basic – yet shocking – truths with you in the hopes that it’ll convince you to make the effort for your body’s sake.
First – your head weighs roughly between 10-12 lbs.
Second – for every inch your head comes forward, add an additional 10 lbs of weight.
That means if your posture looks like this:
Then you’re adding anywhere from 10 to 40 lbs of extra load on the muscles of your neck and shoulders to stabilize and hold the head.
If I had to carry that much unaligned weight around, I’d be tense too.
